FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
-
How does scalp micropigmentation work?Scalp micropigmentation is a non-invasive hair loss treatment that uses precise micro-needles to insert pigment into the scalp. The final result gives off a realistic appearance of tiny hair follicles. If you’re suffering from hair thinning, baldness, or a receding hairline, at SKuLP, we can give your hair a healthier and more refreshing look.
-
How long does the process of scalp micropigmentation take?Scalp micropigmentation is not a one-time and done process. Treatments typically take a few sessions of two to four hours each. This largely depends on your degree of hair loss and scarring, but most clients undergo two to four sessions with a waiting period of ten to twenty days in between.
-
Are the results permanent?Once you complete your treatment, you should expect your scalp micropigmentation to last up to eight years. Over time, you will notice that the treated area is gradually fading, as the skin naturally exfoliates itself. That being said, no discoloration will occur. When this happens, you can schedule a touch-up session to restore the initial vibrancy of the pigment. This will allow you to benefit from your style for many years to come.
-
How much does scalp micropigmentation cost? The pricing significantly varies based on the level of hair loss or scarring each client is experiencing. The cost of this procedure generally ranges between $2,500 and $4,000. To receive a personalized price quote based on your particular case, we recommend setting up a free consultation with our team. Once you do that, they can evaluate the degree of your hair thinning or hair loss.
-
Is scalp micropigmentation noticeable?Scalp micropigmentation is the best and most effective hair loss solution to date, namely due to its natural, undetectable, and long-lasting results. At SKuLP, we take pride in our ability to seamlessly reproduce the appearance of tiny hair follicles. The result? A perfect match for your specific hair needs.
-
Does scalp micropigmentation require downtime?Scalp micropigmentation is a non-invasive procedure, and so requires no downtime. After receiving your treatment, you will notice a slight redness in your scalp. This redness subsides after a couple of days. In most cases, you won’t need to take any time away from work, school, or other obligations. So you can get back to your usual routine right away. If you wish to conceal the redness, you may wear a hat for the 2 to 3 days of scalp recovery time.
-
Does scalp micropigmentation cover transplant scars?Scalp micropigmentation replicates tiny hair follicles on scar tissue. Our expert technicians will work on blending the color around that area to cover it up. You can see a substantial improvement in the concealment of transplant or surgical scars after your treatment.
-
Does scalp micropigmentation change colors like regular tattoos?Scalp micropigmentation is a form of permanent cosmetics that is unlike typically used tattoo ink. The pigment we use is custom-made and designed to replicate the color spectrum of short buzzcut hair. The pigment does not contain any additional colorants or additives. It will only lighten and slightly fade over time, not discolor like a tattoo. SMP also requires different equipment than the tools used in traditional tattooing. The needle and machine utilized are designed specifically for this process.
-
Do I have to cut my hair? This depends on the degree of hair loss you are experiencing. If too much of your hair is missing, then we recommend cutting it down to ensure better density and more realistic results. We can achieve a more natural and textured look by creating a seamless gradience with multiple layers of impressions.
-
Is scalp micropigmentation painful? Most clients report that this procedure is somewhat uncomfortable, but certainly not painful. This is especially true for the temples area since the skin is at its thinnest there. Numbing cream can be applied beforehand to soothe potential pain.
